Welcome to fantasy rugby! If you are familiar with other fantasy sports, you'll probably pick up this site pretty quickly.
First time sign up
You will be emailed a link that will allow you to sign up for the first time. It will take you to the user settings page, where you will see the option to set a password (definitely do this!), change your username (currently the same as your Discord username), and also the name for any fantasy teams you have. Feel free to change your username and team names before the season starts, but changing your name after the start of the season is discouraged because it could cause confusion for other users if their opponents keep changing names. Obviously fixing a typo would be fine.
Navigating the site
The different sections of the site can be found in the menu on the left hand side of the screen, or in the hamburger menu on mobile. The top two links will take you to The Fantasy Ruckers Show in video and audio forms, and the Posts link will take you to written content like Fitzy's draft rankings.
The next three links will take you to the stats part of the site: Players, where you will find a searchable list of players in the MLR; Teams, which will take you to a list of the MLR teams; and Schedule, which will show you a full list of MLR matches.
The Fantasy Leagues section is where you will find the most of the things that are important to you as a league member. The first link will show you all the fantasy teams active right now, which can be a useful way of gathering intel on what other leagues are up to. The Weekly Challenge link will take you to the Weekly Challenge, where you can make weekly picks and compete against everyone on the site.
After that, you'll see links to the leagues that you are a part of. This is the easiest way to get your leagues so that you can manage your teams.
The final section has your user pages: support, for any questions you might have, ssettings, for resetting your password and changing your username, and the logout button. If you are logged out, this is also where you'll find the login button.
Managing your team
When you go to your league page, you'll be able to see where you fall in the standings, the leagues upcoming matches, and recent activity in the league. You'll also notice a number of tabs at the top. These tabs will take you to the pages that will help you manage your fantasy team.
League
This tab is will take you to the main league page.
Matchups
This tab will take you to all the matchups in the league, and by default it will show the most recent or upcoming matches.
Lineup
This is where the magic happens. Throughout the week, you'll be able to add and switch players in your lineup. Just click on a player and you'll see the spots thry're eligible for highlighted in blue. Click on one of those spots to move the player into that slot. If there's another player already player already there, they'll be bumped to the bench.
You'll also notice a little icon of a rugby ball on a tee. Click this to set the kicker for your team! You can choose any one player to be your kicker, regardless of what position they play. Most kickers will be flyhalfs, scrumhalfs, or back three players, though.
You can set your lineup at any point after the fantasy week has started. At the moment, your lineup does not carry over from the previous week, so make sure to set it every week!
Keep in mind that players will lock into their roster spots once their match that week starts. This is set to the officially listed match start time, NOT the actual literal time of that the kickoff happens.
Roster
During the free agency period, which starts on Thursday every week at 10am Eastern (7am Pacific), you'll be able to add players to your roster using this page. Once again, keep in mind that players will lock when their match that week kicks off, meaning that they can no longer be added to the team.
You can have up to 15 healthy players total on your roster, with injured players not counting towards that number. However, you can have no more than 17 total players, injured or otherwise. Injured players will automatically be marked as injured in the system, so there is no need to specifically designate them as injury reserve.
Waivers
On this page, you'll be able to bid on players during the waiver period, which will usually end Thursday at 3am Eastern (midnight Pacific).
To create a new waiver, find the player you want using the search functionality, then click the bid button. You'll see a few fields in the box that pops up: the player your bidding on, who will be filled out already, the bid amount, and a select box for the player you are releasing. The release player will be dropped from your roster to make room for the new player in the event that your waiver is successful.
Remember, you only have a limited for the whole season of $100 FAAB. Spend it wisely! You can also place bids of $0, which can be an interesting strategic move for lower priority targets.
Once you've placed your bid it will appear at the top of the page with the rest of your open bids. By default, it will be the lost priority, but this can be changed by clicking rearrange button. In the pop-up that opens, you'll see all your open bids with up and down arrow icons. Clicking these arrows will change the priority order for the waivers. Remember to click the save button to save the new order.
The priority order dictates the order in which the waivers will be resolved. If a high priority waiver is successful and renders a lower priority waiver invalid (because there isn't enough remaining FAAB, the release player has already been released, or the target player has already been signed), then that lower waiver will automatically fail. However, should that higher priority waiver fail, then the lower priority one has a chance to go through as a backup.
